Technical training in cybersecurity

Challenge

Build a technical cybersecurity training program to upskill learners with little to no technical experience.

Overview

During my tenure at Thinkful, I led a project that bridged the gap between employers and employees in technical skills. Partnering with companies like Lowes, Target, Walmart, Kroger, Lowes, and Five Guys, we offered no-cost, career-aligned technical education programs to their associates, addressing their hiring challenges.

By conducting thorough need-finding, I designed Thinkful's first modular program, enabling students to enter and exit at different proficiency levels, offering a customizable experience tailored to individual needs. In alignment with best practices in adult learning theory, I emphasized self-paced learning, experiential education through simulation, and mentorship throughout the program.

The program's success was evident as enrollment exceeded expectations and positive feedback poured in. Learners advanced to new careers and pursued higher education opportunities, showcasing the transformative power of tailored education and industry collaborations.

My Role

I took full ownership of every aspect of this project, driving the design, development, and delivery of the program. It is truly one of my favorite projects.

Below I have added links to excerpts of the program (provided to me by Chegg) to illustrate my program and content design skills. I have added the same materials in-line below.

Note: Thinkful’s Cybersecurity program is not open to the public and only offered through its partnerships program. For this reason, when you search the Thinkful website you are unlikely to find it.
